The Hustle

I was thinking on the way home, I do a lot of my thinking on the way home. For some reason the story about the guy who took a paperclip and traded his way to a house came to mind. If you haven't heard the story, this guy kept trading what he had for something else until he ended up with a house. Started with a paperclip. Ended with a house. How cool is that?

I've been inspired by this, even though it's an old story. I decided I'm going to 'hustle' my way towards a car. Not hustle in the pimp/criminal sort of way. I mean hustle as in I'm going to try to make money in different ways to earn enough cash for a car.

I realize it would be easier just to be one but what fun is there in that? So that's my new project. I'm not sure when I'll start, but I'll be sure to post it.

Holy shit...I went to the gym last night. Hell hath frozen over. I'm finally feeling good so it was time. I can't say I'm 100% but it's as close to it as I'm going to get for a while. It felt good to be back in the gym.

When I walked in this lady smiled at me. She was cute in a 'gym' sort of way. You know what I mean, if a girl is in the gym, she gets extra points just for being there. It's kind of like how women give extra points to a man in uniform.

Back to the lady at the gym. I went over to the eliptical machine to warm up and she looked back at me and smiled again. I smiled back. Maybe being back at the gym has its perks? After turning her over in my head trying to figure out if she was just being nice I figured out that I knew her. Then I went over it again in my head trying to figure out how I knew her. Turned out she was my neighbor from down the street but I've never seen her up that close. She was just being nice I guess. Damn.

So much for bringing sexy back.

My workout was good. I think this is the first step in getting my life back in shape overall.

Work

I don't know what it is about my coworkers. They seem to work like mad men and women. I don't, yet I know for a fact that I get way more done than they do. In fact, my boss loves me. She thinks I'm the most productive worker she has. I am, to a degree. I wonder if I truly worked all day like they do...Nah, they I couldn't surf and spend more time reading while at work.

We had a big meeting today and it wasn't as big as everyone made it out to be. In short, we're restructuring. No one is losing jobs. We're simply reporting to someone new. No big deal right?

Not to my coworkers. They all fawned over not reporting to our current boss and each went on about how great our boss is. WTF ever. Do you have a job? Check. Are you still getting paid the same? Check. What else matters?

I swear I'll never understand the touchy feely thing we have here. It's just work.

I'm trying to make it a point to blog more. I really need to. Today I'm feeling kind of blah. I'm not sure why. I don't feel like working at all. So I'm sitting here wasting the day away watching shows on Hulu.

I hope the day picks up.
